You will live in a single or two-room apartment with attached living area, kitchen and bathroom. You can choose to share a room to reduce costs. Units are spacious and self contained; kitchen utensils are provided. There is a shared laundry onsite. Located in central Invercargill city, you will only be a 5-10 minute walk from SIT's campuses. Homestays SIT administers a network of approved homestay hosts, local Kiwi families who host international students. Homestays are the perfect way to introduce yourself to New Zealand; not only will you improve your English, you will also learn about Kiwi culture and become an important part of a local family. You will have your own room and access to shared family facilities. Meals are provided. Typical homestay houses are 3 or 4 bedroom single level houses with private access and gardens, located in suburban areas of the city. Please remember that in order to get writing intensive credit, you need to have taken English 1000 and received a C- or above. A C- or better is also required for your two WI classes. For math, you need to have taken Math 1100 (or a higher numbered class) and received a C- or above in order for your Math Proficiency to count. You will also need a C- or above for your Math Reasoning Proficiency class. The required course ArchSt 4323 Sustainable Technologies will also meet the Math Reasoning Proficiency Proficiency requirement. If you are planning to take Math 1100 on campus, you will need to take the ALEKS exam. See more information regarding this exam and math placement. Selected courses in History or Political Science may double count as a social/behavior science in the distribution of content area and history requirement. In the Distribution of Content Area, please check the list of approved courses located on the general education requirement website to select a class in one of these areas (Biological/Physical/Mathematical Science, Social/Behavioral Science, and Humanities).

If you are planning on receiving a minor, be sure to look at the requirements and follow up with that department. It would be in your best interest to start planning out not only this semester, but all your upcoming semesters. While this can be changed, it will give you an idea of what classes to take and when, especially ArchSt classes. REMEMBER that you need a minimum of 125 credits hours to graduate. Tampa has a rich architectural history for all of us to study and enjoy. Design guidelines for historic districts do a number of important things. They are foremost a communication tool between the Architectural Review Commission (ARC) and the public describing the context of the neighborhood in terms of its history and its architectural styles. Further, they describe in some detail the building elements that are important to each architectural style in the district and suggest a variety of solutions for rehabilitation and new construction that might best preserve the neighborhood's character. Finally, the guidelines are used along with The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation by the ARC when reviewing construction activities.
