Author Jhumpa Lahiri published her debut in 1999, Interpreter of Maladies, winning the Pulitzer Prize. Lahiri's 2013 novel, The Lowland, was partially inspired by real-world political events. Early Life and Education Nilanjana Sudheshna Lahiri was born on July 11, 1967, in London, England, to mother Tapati and father Amar, a Bengali couple who immigrated to the United Kingdom from Calcutta, India. Lahiri's father, a university librarian, opted to relocate to the United States for work, eventually settling in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, when she was still a small child. Camp Cabins We've been camping at the park before, and if that's your style, it's a great experience. Bon Echo offers some really exceptional camping spots, but for my wife and I, we prefer the totally charming camp cabins. The camp cabins are located on Bon Echo Lake, in the middle of a forested area that's calm, quiet, and beautiful at night. It's a perfect vacation spot, and I really recommend staying at least three nights to get the most from the experience. The 12 cabins are around one side of the lake, and near a comfort station that's just for cabin guests, with bathrooms, showers, and a washing room for dishes.

The lodge is situated in beautiful grounds only a short drive from Ohakune. Our room was very comfortable with everything we needed. We also had a terrace with a sun lounger and chairs. Peter dropped us into town for dinner and then picked us up later for a small charge and Heather did some laundry for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the superb breakfast sharing the large table with the other guests. Heather and Peter were very helpful with their advice on the various sights and walks in the area. We would highly recommend the lodge. ( and adorable Ricky Martin too! ) Ruapehu Country Lodge is beautiful, a real home from home, with lovely grounds backing onto a golf course. All the rooms are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We stayed for 3 nights over the christmas holidays. Heather and pete looked after us perfectly, with superb breakfasts each morning, cooking us the best christmas dinner and being such incredible hosts!!
