My wife and I were invited by our friends to spend a day at Villa Escudero. They are good friends of the owner, Mr Conrado Escudero, who was kind enough to send a resort van to Manila to pick us up. Upon arrival at the resort, Mr Escudero greeted us warmly and invited us to have some snacks and drinks in the convention center. As we sat around a large table he told us about the history of the resort, upcoming additions to the property, and his profound determination to keep the resort eco friendly. When we finished talking we walked around the pool area and then watched guests floating down the river on the resorts' bamboo rafts. Then it was time for the most fantastic feature of all - a sumptuous lunch while sitting barefoot at tables in the river, just a short distance from a waterfall. It was the most amazing lunch that I have ever experienced. The wait staff kept delivering delicious local foods and fruit and we ate until we were stuffed. We then went to the convention center where we were treated to traditional Filipino music, songs, and dance, put on by the same staff that had served us lunch.
