We stayed one night at the forest hostel accommodation at Bako National Park. It was truly horrible, as everyone else says. I have never stayed in a mouldier room. The positives of the accommodation, though, is that it was quiet. 4 rooms per lodge, and on the night we stayed there were only 8 people in the lodge (even though it was fully booked). The shower was clean enough, there was an outdoor sink on the verandah as well as tables and chairs. And the two overhead fans in the rooms did eventually cool them down so that you did need a cover to sleep. Forest lodge accommodation doesn't provide sheets and towels like the other Bako accommodation, but there is a fitted sheet and a pillowcase on the bed so you can get away with covering up with something else. The floors squeaked and the beds groaned every time you tried to turn over. About half of the accommodation was closed for renovation, so the quality of the experience can only get better over time. There was a power cut, conveniently at check-out time (a hurry up reminder?! )
